show run command on start menu

Run command no longer appears on the Start menu in this version of Windows.
One of the nice features of the old Run dialog was that it saved the history of what you had typed in.
how to enable the old Run dialog that existed on every other version of Windows until Vista, and is still gone in Windows 7.

We should note first that you can always get to the run dialog by just hitting Win + R on the keyboard, which is the simplest way to do so, and would probably be worth getting used to.

The search box that appears on the Start menu provides much of the same functionality as the Run command. However, the Run command is still available if you prefer to use it. You can even add it to the Start menu for easier access.

To add the Run command to the Start menu

1. In the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties window that appears, click the Start Menu tab near the top-left corner.

2. Click the Customize button.

3. In the Customize Start Menu Window that appears, click the Advanced tab near the top-left corner.

4. Below where it says, "Start menu items" scroll through the list until you find the Run command listing.

5. Clck the box to the right of the listing to ensure that there is a check mark in it.

6. Click the OK button near the bottom-right corner and the Customize Start Menu window will close.

7. In the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties window, click the Apply button near the bottom-right corner.

8. In the same window, click the OK button.
